You can e-file free if you go through the irs.gov menu. You will have many choices of companies to choose from. When you find one you like, you will see file free, and pay to file sections. Start with the file free. However, you have to be on your toes, because they will try to sidetrack you to the paying program instead. I have run up on about three of these free e-file and tax for free but at the end, they want a credit card or get you to sign up where your file is sent to some banking warehouse to see if you qualify for a loan and deduct normally at least $59.00 from your refund. BE wary or what you authorize. I finally tried H&R Block and being careful, I did finally get to free e=file my Federal Tax. The first time I tried H&R Block, they wanted me to pay also. I just backed out and when I did try them again, I used a different username and password another e-mail address so they do not send me back to my original e-file.
