    Although the 500 S&W is the "most powerfull", the newer S&W 460 far exceeds the 500 in velocity, distance, and accuracy with lower bullet weights. In addition, the 460 shares the same extra large frame as it's sibling. It comes very close to matching and in some loads exceeding the 500S&W ballistically with bullet weights ranging from 200 grain all the way to 500 grain custom hand loads. It is no longer accurate to claim that the 500S&W(awesome as it is) has no other competition capable of matching or approaching the level of power it produces.
