Do bigger tailpipes increase fuel consumption?

    No, since this is at the END of the whole exhaust system. I'm assuming you're not talking about the muffler either, just the metal 'tip' that you can attach out of the muffler outlet tube. A wider diameter will have no effect in your fuel efficiency since the whole exhaust system (leading from the engine back towards the rear of the car) has not been changed, it will, however, make your car's exterior look 'cooler'.

    If you were talking about a flow-through muffler, that's a different story....
