Help answer this question below.

Would it seem desperate?

I'll keep this short. I was at a bar yesterday evening and was approached by this girl. She asked could she join me and we had a good chat. Unfortunately, I had to leave due to plans (I was only in the bar to kill time). She seemed a bit disappointed but otherwise believed I wasn't making an excuse to leave. We wished each other well and parted ways. Afterward, I realised I should have asked for her number. However, she is close friends with some members of the bar staff. I caught her name and one of the names of staff who is her friend. So, would it seem desperate to pass my phone number on to her through the barman or is it worth a shot? (Female advice would be most helpful).
