What does wikipedia do to prevent small changes to its articles such as changing the year of the revolution from 1776 to 1976? Are there any other sites simalar to wikipedia that employ better means of detecting malicious changes to articles?

    Great question. Wikipedia is self-correcting, in that users can edit mistakes as soon as they are detected. This seems like a scary proposition, but the ratio of people who would look after the wiki to those who would do it harm is in favour of the good people. Is it a perfect system? Nope. But I'd rather risk its current system than be forced to adopt one person's version of something.

    Not everything you read on the web (period) is true. So it goes for wikipedia.
