Well I know this isn't what you meant, but I can't resist:

    Eragon. The whole darn thing.

File it under "how much bad fantasy fiction, bad acting, bad direction, and bad script can we fit into a single 2 hours of torture?".

    • lmao! Is that the movie with the dragon...?

    • In sooth, fair maiden -- it is the same. Woe be unto them who tread the path of the dragon, lest they fall sorely into extreme gastric distress interrupted only by vast expanses of stifling boredom!

    • well I suppose so, being that the trailer couldn't even get my attention. Atleast YOU gave it a chance.

    • I didn't have a choice: I was lashed to a 12-year-old boy who was driven by the most fearsome forces and would not be diverted to other, more promising looking films...

    • Sort of. I'm a CASA (adult partner for abused kids)

    • Stableboy: You and your kid could use this:http://www.metacritic.com/
      or this:http://www.rottentomatoes.com/
      next time.
I've found them to be very helpful for avoiding bombs and disasters (of the movie kind ) : )

    • That's admirable.

    • @Carlos: thanks, I'll save the links... more for the spousal unit than the kids, though. The kids are totally immune to moviemaking incompetence... they want what they want and there's no talking them out of it!

@Tink: beware lest I launch into my recruiting speech:

    • You're right about that one.
Re: CASA and yourself: I second Tinkabelle's comment.

    • Thanks! You're exempt from the recruiting speech, as a non-US resident :)

    • Stableboy, really, thank you. That's one of the best pieces of advice that I've gotten in a VERY long time. That said, I just left two messages, one with a Mr. Bostock and another with a Ms. Ross, and hopefully one or possibly both of them will call me back with more info. What better way to spend my free time?
      Again, thx :)

    • Great! Are these men in your local area? Each county has it's own local CASA organization... they're affiliated with the national folk, but not really run by the national org.

    • Both are local. How did you get invloved with it?

    • I have an old friend in San Francisco who is a CASA, and my wife (a therapist) works with these kinds of kids a lot, so she sometimes deals with CASAs also. I get to hear all their sad tales through the stories she brings home from work.
