Why is phosphoric acid a syrupy liquid?

    Liquids interact at the molecular level by rubbing and bumping against each other. The atomic interactions between the molecules at the atomic level are responsible for the observed properties at the macroscopic level. In this case, the dipol-dipol and hydrogen bonding interactions between the partially positive hydrogen atoms and the partially negative oxygen atoms create the fluid effect. Couple that with the relative size of the molecule ( Molecularly speaking, it's huge!) and you get a viscous fluid.
