How can I get my property back that was seized by the police after an arrest, but the charges were dismissed in court?

If you do not wish to deal with a lawyer, or if the property's value is insufficient for such trouble, consider writing a letter detailing the items seized, reiterating the disposition of your case, and requesting that the items be returned.
