John Walker Lindh, after pleading guilty in July 2002, received a 20-year prison sentence for aiding the Taliban.

As of the end of September 2004, his lawyers were requesting a reduction in his sentence, saying that he was "a good american" and that he never hurt anyone or carried arms.

You can read the prepared statement, dated October 4th, 2004, that he gave to the courts here - http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/lindh/lindh100402statment.html .

You can also read his sentencing memorandum here - http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/lindh/lindh100402statment.html .

    Hope this helps.
