I don't think so -- it's been going on at least 100 years -- people blamed violent language on McKinley's assassination in 1901 -- so we've had violent language for over 100 years, but the last assassination attempt was 30 years ago. I would make the connection between violence and mental health care -- this recent event in Tucson might have been avoided if there had been better services for mental illness... the guy had already been considered a danger to his school -- what is needed is a test for intention -- I have no problem with people owning guns -- but we make people pass tests to drive cars -- there should be tests for buying guns as well.

    • I think there's always been violent language. I'd never heard that anyone had ever tried to blame violent language on the McKinley assassination and I'd have to check a little further into that subject to understand how it actually relates to the topic of violence.

      Thanks for your answer.
