You're reading Aluminum or Aluminium? Why?
Comments
Aluminium was used by everyone, but due to a spelling mistake in a high exposure flyer, Aluminum stuck. Also, the man who was attempting to isolate it from Alumina intended to call it Aluminum, but Aluminium is more in line with the elements isolated around the same time - Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium etc.
So it can go either way! even IUPAC occassionally use different spellings (they "prefer" Aluminium)!
American dictionaries attribute Alluminium to English spelling, But its alot more complicated than that...Hence my question...What does everyone else think?
Also, Thanks for your answer : )
