Every year, hundreds of thousands of pine trees are grown and cut for the Christmas holiday. Is this a shameful waste or does dedicating the land to growing things compensate for that waste?

Before electric Christmas lights, people used to light their Christmas trees with tiny candles. Bet it was beautiful! SEE DESCRIPTION.
