Every year, hundreds of thousands of pine trees are grown and cut for the Christmas holiday. Is this a shameful waste or does dedicating the land to growing things compensate for that waste?

I agree that it seems like a terrible waste; however, it is better use of the land than pavement or buildings. Don't you think so?
