If it is OK and a MUST to interpret a phone-book literally, why is 'literal interpretation' of 'God's word' Bible the nemesis that stuns god-apologists & hypocrites?

Some believers contradict themselves about as much as the Bible does. Fundamentalists begin by saying every word in the Bible is literally true, but when skeptics point out the many obvious contradictions in it, they change their song and offer convoluted excuses for the errors in it, and that denies a literal interpretation of it. It seems to make sense that if God wrote a sacred book, it would be to help people and thus anyone of normal intelligence could understand it and use it well. If it is as convoluted as apologists claim, it entraps many intelligent humans who see contradictions, scientific errors and condoning savage behavior in it, and this leads them to say God does not exist, and thus, God has a feeble excuse to torture them forever. Such a deity is more sadistic Devil than God. Occam's Razor cuts away all of the overly-contrived excuses apologists offer and shows us the truth is that barbaric, ignorant men wrote the Bible and claimed falsely to speak for a deity one of them invented.
