Help answer this question below.

Do you give blood? and have you ever had a bad reaction? E.g. Fainting, nausea etc

    Gave blood the other day, and ended up being taken by EMS to ER. I was fine for about 10 minutes after giving blood, eating nuts and drinking juice, when I started feeling a little light headed. Within minutes I was nauseas, becoming unresponsive, and couldn't stand or sit. I was placed on the floor with ice packs and bags to barf into. I was also started having diarreah. After 45 minutes of this, and a trip to the bathroom, WITH help, since I couldn't even hold my head up, they called the doctor on call and he suggested strongly that they call ems and send me to er. So, drugs to stop the nausea and 1.5 bags of saline drip, I finally got to go home about 5 hours after I first gave blood. This was the first time I ever gave and will probably be the last. My husband gives regularly. He will have to be the hero.
