That is not an easy question to answer here. However you are in luck, there is a web site that gives a good bit of information of creating a diverse population of fish:

    http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Misc%20Which%20Fishes%20Get%20Along.htm

Of course there are also books on the subject. Your local Public Library would be a great place to start - Ask at the Reference desk for help and start checking out a few books. There are a lot of books on the subject of tanks, fish and stuff you need to know, stuff that is cool to know and stuff you never knew existed.

Also there are aquarium stores - all the deal in are fish, aquariums and more fish. Not only would a clerk be able to help you but they will also have many books on the subject. Take a pencil and paper, write down the titles of suggested books, and of course write down the suggestions as well.

Now just don't go there and pump for information, buy some fish food and perhaps something for your tank.
