Question

Help answer this question below.

I'm going for a second glucose tolerance test tomorrow. This means I will be having multiple blood tests over a few hours. Previously had problems with getting enough blood & bruising, is there any way to prepare beforehand to make the tests easier?

It will be tough no matter what, lots of blood drawn if they are going to do a lab test at each time point as opposed to a meter test.

Does your doctor suspect that you have Type 2 Diabetes or some other Carbohydrate metabolism disorder? How long is the Gtt going to be and how many draws? A much better test is a 6 hour Gtt with insulin taken at each draw, this gives a much better picture. Also a Glucose/insulin ratio pre and post fasting is very valuable in diagnosing insulin resistance. I hope you are seeing a specialist, Gps are usually not very good at reading test numbers of this kind.
