    Because they are fun, as an investment, for self or home defense, for survival purposes, for collector's purposes, for hunting, for target shooting, etc.


    For me, it depends on the gun. I buy historical firearms for the collectability, value, and the historical "interesting-ness" of them. I also buy modern weapons for plinking, target shooting, and defensive purposes.
